Fun Classic 8-Bit Zelda-esque Game Marred Only by Touch Controls

:
I bought this game a few months back out of sheer nostalgia - I played this game back in the day on the Sega Master System to get my Zelda fix (I didn't have a NES). It's a good game, especially if you pine for classic action-adventure games. The dungeons aren't as puzzle-y as Zelda's were, making it the inferior game, but it is colorful and full of cool different areas to explore.

Prior to this latest update, the emulation and UI overlay was barebones - functional, but nothing to brag about. The latest update surprisingly includes Game Center support (achievements) and a vastly improved UI. The only nitpick about the new UI controls is that they aren't as transparent as the original barebones UI, so it can be a little more difficult to see in the corners. Touch virtual pad/button still has problems, but that's more of a issue with the device than the game. I've only played through the 2nd "area", and seems like one of the achievements is glitched - I didn't get the one for buying the first crystal for some reason.

If you have no interest in classic 8-bit action adventures, this won't appeal to you. But if you do, this fits the bill if you can deal with some occasionally flaky virtual pad touch controls.

Update deleted my save and...

:
It is now more difficult to see the character. Cant u guys just add the option to shrink the screen and put your controls outside of it?

Lowered my review. I had been working on this save for a while.

5/5 stars

...And all that jazz.

:
Okay. So I'm giving this game 5 stars. Because of the game. The port is roughly as good as it can be, seeing as we're playing it on a touchscreen, rather than a NES. If you really want the full experience, then don't play a port. It's as simple as that. Go buy a NES.
However, if you want to experience a NES game without that much hassle, then I highly recommend this app. It's well put together, and the controls really aren't that bad, considering that it's a NES game being played on a 21st century touchscreen. ;) The gameplay is good( if a bit repetitive, at times), so go ahead and purchase this game!
